Etienne ‘Rithma’ Stehelin first joined us, spinning for our ‘Hasselhoff Scandal’ parties directly after the Hoff himself had made an appearance, back in March 2003. The Los Angeles based producer kicked off the label with his ‘Pepper Tree’ e.p and continues to tour his live stage show and unique brand of visceral deep house grooves around the world today.
With over 50 releases and two albums under his belt, Rithma has long been the jewel in the electronic eye of labels like San Fran House giant Om, Terraform, Utensil, Tweekin’ , Aestereo, Shakedown, Ryralio and countless others. He is something of an enigma, whose polished tracks are matched only by his multi-instrumentalism, voice ( a mixture of blues, rock and dare we say it, jim carrey) and free, wandering-minstrel spirit.
Don’t let the hippy chique fool you though, inside the Rithma burns the mind of a truly deep thinker; As if his music was not testament enough. Rithers has still not forgiven himself for leaving the front window open to the Hoff afterparty at Jaf’s Brixton house; Whilst our intrepid hero slept off his jetlag (and the booze), a robber got in and knicked the keys to the BMW parked outside.. The Police rescued the poor beast two weeks later..er the car, not Rithma.
