Our Russian friend Alexander ‘Spieltape’ Malyutin has gained notoriety quickly in the ever-fickle world of electronic music, down in no small part to a consistent output of quality, deep, melancholic music. He combines elements of minimal, tech, prog and deep house for a warm, modern sound that has wide-ranging club appeal. UK giant Global Underground were quick to spot his talents early on releasing an E.P when he was just 20. Spieltape signings and his side project So Called Music, have followed on Canadian imprint Deep Tip, Modulator, Disoma, Subotonik and the like. He has been widely supported by his peers, including Martin Eyerer, Trickski, Anja Schneider and DJ Hell. He lives in Arkhangelsk in the north of Russia, where its cold, with ice and stuff.
