This BANK HOLIDAY SATURDAY 29TH MAY sees Artizan’s UPTOWNBOOGIEDOWN turn 4 years old.. it could be 6, we’re not sure… someone put some rohypnol in the drinks… its all a bit of a beer…Anyhooo, its our BIRTHDAY and its a BANK HOLIDAY, so what better way to give this momentous occasion the fanfare it deserves (Toot! Toot!), than by returning to our favourite Shoreditch Rave Cave, EAST VILLAGE…

We always welcome charity events here at Artizan Music, which is why we didn’t hesitate a moment to get involved with this lovely little party, run by the Swedish youth branch of the Red Cross. If you are not already aware, The Red Cross are an independent, neutral organization, who have for years ensured protection and assistance for victims of war and violence around the globe.

For anyone in Sweden on Wednesday 12th May (Thursday 13th is of course a national holiday , head over to MusikensHus in Gothenborg; Jafar will be repping the Artizan, drawing together a deep tapestry of global electronics, with a distinctly ethnic twist, in salute to The Red Cross’s international work…

We had hoped to fly Maxime Cescau in for you too, but this darn Icelandic ash cloud has put paid to that. He will be there in spirit though,  shaking his gigantic german disco balls as only he can. There’s also some fantastic bands on the bill  and, naturally, with it being for charity its free entry all night…so what are you waiting for, boogiedown for a good cause!!

Being as our latest release is by Deporto, the guys behind Brickhouse’s ‘FINALE’ night, it seemed only apt we do a joint launch party with them…

So, get your ears and asses ready for a night of Deep, Minimal & Tech House in celebration of Deporto’s latest “Solar Stripes E.P” (ARTMD011)…

On the decks, Label heads Poussez aka Jafar & Maxime Cescau, Deporto’s Mickey Blue & Dodge, our good friend Toby Phickle of the notorious Jerk party crew and of course Finale resident Pej, the unstoppable prince of Persia…

Your ears will not only be massaged by some of the warmest electronic music around, but they will also be blown away by the Brickhouse’s new and improved FUNCTION ONE SOUNDSYSTEM! Thats right, over Christmas Santa delivered more F1 speakers than you can shake Laurent Garnier at, so it now boasts the same spec RES9 as the main room at Space Ibiza! (geek speek over.)

Couple this with Finale’s trademark burlesque live acts performing on the night, plus a few of the usual assorted UTBD gems and this event promises to knock the cranberry juice diets and broccoli mudpacks to kingdom come…

The Brickhouse is a renovated Victorian building located in the heart of Brick Lane, it’s one of East London’s best new venues, boasting 3 levels and an outdoor terrace…

midweeker, at Niva Club in the centre of Goteborg.

Run by local hero and Deep House DJ Christoffer Falk (also behind the popular Swedish Club
blog DjungelTrumman), its a quality (and busy) midweeker, giving Goteborgians a fortnightly
excuse to skip out on work Thursday mornings and get right on down to the deep shit…

After spending last year knee deep in AstroTurf UPTOWNBOOGIEDOWN returns to Carnival this Monday.  We step things up another notch, partnering with our good friends DISCO GEISHA, run by the brilliant Tomoki Tamura (anyone remember him joining Jafar, Maxime and Andy at Neighbourhood, will know this boy slams it. With a wealth of tracks on the likes of Four: Twenty & Satoshi Tomie’s Saw imprint,  it comes as no surprise)..

Sadly, we must mention again, our loveable Maxime Cescau is on tour that weekend, so, representing the Artizan alongside Jafar, will be  the welcome return of man like Toby Phickle from the excellent Jerk Parties (the bump, the roll, the jack, the jerk..). Meanwhile, Tomoki will be joined by his ace residents Eightbitrate, Naoki Shimizu, Supermethod and many more. There’s also live percussion from Lil Dom and Carnival Sushi from Juzu!! Nuff said!

Kick off is 4pm on Carnival Monday AUGUST 31ST and runs till 2am. Its free entry before 6pm and a reasonable £6 till 8pm, more thereafter. BUT BE WARNED…with an average 2million people at Carnival every year, venues fill up quick smart. We were one in one out by 6pm last year so don’t leave it too late!!

Oh yes discombobulators, get this one in your bank holiday party diary! The awesome Shoreditch-based 54 Management Agency flex their roster muscle with this end of Summer residents party. Managing our very own Jafar & Maxime Cescau, 54 focus on established producers and djs with the emphasis firmly on the modern deep house and techno.

As with their label, the ‘Light’ series of parties focuses on the deep and tech-house, whilst the ‘Dark’ is dedicated to techno and minimal. August 29th Sees Jafar (Max was supposed to join him but is sadly abroad again, the pre-wedding commitments reaching boiling point!), Matt Masters and Mr Cenzo in the driving seat, with support from Lost My Dog signee Nick Dare, the up and coming Foolish Horse and 54 Agency’s own Nick Collins. Joining JAFAR & MAXIME CESCAU (make sure you check out their latest POUSSEZ offerings for the LoudEast, Huddtraxx and Pesto imprints), shall be Innervision / Freerange signee and general houser of the moment, ATJAZZ. Having recently remixed the boys for the Tonecontrol label, it was only right that the underground heavyweight was next up. Rounding the basement off, will be EV resident Stuart Patterson.

Upstairs, we are extremely proud to announce the launch of our new sub-label ARTIZAN SOUL. Headed up by production partner in crime and all round keys wizard, ANDY TOUCHFINGERS, the label promises the very best in all forms of modern dancefloor goodness. Andy will be rocking an extended selection of extremely rare cuts of fattest boogie, disco,deep funk, reggae and upfront previews of the label’s forthcoming output. Naturally, this will be interspersed with his live keys, plus P.A’s from three of Artizan’s promising young female vocalists. MULLETOVER 5TH BIRTHDAY in association with ARTIZAN MUSIC and RESIDENT ADVISOR

Easter Sunday April 12th sees London party crew MULLETOVER’s much anticipated 5th Birthday. That’s five years of superb, rammed to the rafters, warehouse parties in unusual and unannounced spaces. From Ibiza to London, Woodland to Grassland, Lovebox to Ministry, they, like fine wines, just get better with age…

April 12th profiles another stellar lineup and easily one of the best party offerings for London’s Easter Weekend. Programming a first-rate mix of heady techno, futuristic house, electronic beats, nu-disco and re-edits across 3 rooms, Mulletover join forces with leading ‘Voice of the underground’ – webmasters Resident Advisor in Room 2, whilst, UK House imprint Artizan Music bring their popular ‘Uptownboogiedown’ session to Room3.

Joining resident Geddes in the Mulletover Room then, are Romanian minimal dons Pedro and Rhadoo, hotly tipped by Luciano, Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos as the future faces of techno. Size Doesn’t Matter’s Simon Kurrage rounds the package off nicely, for a tasty menu of fresh and pioneering techno sounds.

In Resident Advisor’s Room, re-edit King Greg Wilson headlines with his trademark reel2reels, support comes from Noze and Linkwood family, who have caused much ruckus with their outings on Prime Numbers and Firecracker records. This promises a totally leftfield excursion into the distant corners of dance music’s scope.

On the deeper, electronic tip in Artizan Music’s Uptownboogiedown room, Parisian producer du jour and the man behind the Deeply Rooted label, Dj Deep, flies in to join residents, label heads and well-loved producers, Jafar & Maxime Cescau (AKA Poussez). Warming up proceedings, is promising young talent Emile Carstens, who proved such a big hit at UTBD’s xmas party last year.

Enough there to whet the appetites of old friends, new faces and future revellers. Mulletover welcome one and all to celebrate 5 years of success with more fun-filled times…
