There has been many items on our ‘To-Do’ list since we expanded into Scandanavia in 2009; Eat more cheese, camp under the northern lights and this…we proudly announce the addition of formidable Göteborg based producer, Andreas Saag, AKA Swell Session and Stateless, to the Artizan Music roster…

Andreas has long been on our radars since his incredible ‘Art of No State’ Album and consequent EP’s on Jimpster’s Freerange, not to mention delicious remixes and singles on G.A.M.M, Hospital, Compost, Ecco Chamber and countless others. Whether he is producing jazz, house, techno, hiphop, broken-beat, electronic or down-tempo (and trust us he does them all and he does them well), everything Andreas does is drenched in depth, warmth, soul, groove with an acute attention to detail. We are supremely chuffed to welcome him. He takes on Jafar & Maxime’s ‘Modern Identity’ (formerly IDJ Magazine Top Tune of the Month), the results of which you can hear in the autumn…

This BANK HOLIDAY SATURDAY 29TH MAY sees Artizan’s UPTOWNBOOGIEDOWN turn 4 years old.. it could be 6, we’re not sure… someone put some rohypnol in the drinks… its all a bit of a beer…Anyhooo, its our BIRTHDAY and its a BANK HOLIDAY, so what better way to give this momentous occasion the fanfare it deserves (Toot! Toot!), than by returning to our favourite Shoreditch Rave Cave, EAST VILLAGE…

RTE is Irelands equivalent of the BBC, a commercial Radio and Media powerhouse with an extensive listener and readership. Suffice to say, we were really rather chuffed when Alan O’Malley presenter of the excellent ‘Multi Storey Soul’ show on RTE Pulse (the stations dance music division) requested a chat and guest mix with Artizan’s label heads Jafar & Maxime Cescau.

You can listen to an archive of the mix and interview below. Run a hot bath, stick it on and let Jafar & Maxime’s beautifully dulcet tones take you away to a land of pink marshmellows and rainbow clouds.

We always welcome charity events here at Artizan Music, which is why we didn’t hesitate a moment to get involved with this lovely little party, run by the Swedish youth branch of the Red Cross. If you are not already aware, The Red Cross are an independent, neutral organization, who have for years ensured protection and assistance for victims of war and violence around the globe.

For anyone in Sweden on Wednesday 12th May (Thursday 13th is of course a national holiday , head over to MusikensHus in Gothenborg; Jafar will be repping the Artizan, drawing together a deep tapestry of global electronics, with a distinctly ethnic twist, in salute to The Red Cross’s international work…

We had hoped to fly Maxime Cescau in for you too, but this darn Icelandic ash cloud has put paid to that. He will be there in spirit though,  shaking his gigantic german disco balls as only he can. There’s also some fantastic bands on the bill  and, naturally, with it being for charity its free entry all night…so what are you waiting for, boogiedown for a good cause!!
